California senators vote to modernize camping rules
The state senate has approved new camping rules – learn more!
Camping in California has changed, but camping rules simply haven't kept pace. Over the last few months, California Senators have been discussing how to update outdated camping rules.
The good news? In late May, California's senators passed a bill (Senate Bill 620) through the state senate to modernize standards for low-impact camping!
Thank you to the growing group of supporters who have spoken up to make their voices heard. It's the diverse coalition of farmers, ranchers, rural landowners, campers, local government leaders, and many others that have made this possible.
We're one step closer to unlocking more outdoor access for Californians and visitors. The bill will now head to the Assembly with unanimous, bipartisan support where it will be discussed over the next few months.
For now, take a moment to thank your senator for voting in support of low-impact camping! Click the "Thank your State Senator" button above, then click "message" to send a note to your representative.
